Didn't you just love watching "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" while growing up? What a great Zen role model for us... his quiet demeanor, his prayerful spirit, his good naturedness... Where is that in today's world? Hmmm... South park? Family Guy? The Simpsons? SNL? Even video games... Wii? Pacman? Alien? Where in our world is Zen? What happened to the simplicity and peace that once was?
I look around at everything going on in the world, the war, the fighting, the destruction, the killing... and I can't find Zen... but I am becoming more and more aware how Zen starts with me and with those around me... the more Zen I am... the more Zen those around me are... the more patient and peaceful I am the more patient and peaceful those around me are. (why didn't someone teach me this years ago???).
We spend billions of dollars teaching war, hatred and anger... when will we learn to spend that money on peace, harmony, and Zen?
